Sunday dresses

Here is Claire wearing her adorable new dress and matching hat that Aunt Laura made her for Christmas!

Here is the dress that Lauren made Claire for Christmas.

Lucky Claire!

Birthday Celebrations

Jason made me a yummy chocolate bundt cake!

(Left) Claire enjoyed trying some strawberry ice cream and a little cake (Right) The cake was so warm that it melted the wax off the candles...but warm cakes are so much yummier :)

Then that weekend, we celebrated my birthday and my two nephews birthday, who both turned 4! (Right) We gave our nephews a kid's art apron. I got the idea from here.

My birthday was great! Thanks so much!

New Years Day + recent happenings

Left: Cute profile Center: This pic makes me laugh every time I see it... cousin Johnny is so silly! Right: Claire>'I'm just giving Matthew a head message... I promise I won't pull it' Matthew>'I'm not too sure about that'

Left: Claire has learned to sit still for a few moments... if she wants to play with mom. Right: Climbing Matthew learns that what goes up, must come back down
Left: Claire likes to pretend that she is talking on the phone with everything... including a calculator. Right: Claire pushed her highchair into the living room, so she could get the food from breakfast off of it. I guess she realizes mom can't do much these days.

Left: She was standing on her horsey, a few moments before pic was taken. Claire> 'Climbing on things with wheels.. no prob'... crazy girl. Right: I love this tight hug she loves to give her stuffed animals

I am so lucky... I get to hang out with these ladies almost every week.

Left: Jason's grandma Right: Even with a broken ankle... I still have cravings for cookies!

Broken Ankle

I thought having bigger ankles than my mom (who has broken both ankles) and having bigger ankles than my husband (impressive... I know :)), would help me to never have this problem. But, oh well, life happens. I am still alive and kicking (the left leg at least) :)

Since you can't read the text, here it is:
How I broke the tibia here (as noted by arrow) and not the fibula (the bone to the left) amazed both foot doctor specialists I’ve seen

Another fracture-- The break as it corkscrews from front to back of tibia (leg) bone

This is as I remember it, from what two foot doctor specialists pointed out.
This happened Tuesday night before New Years. I was going to get the mail that night, and as I was walking across the street I stepped on some ice and broke my ankle. I am not sure if it was black ice or what (neighbor lost balance on black ice yesterday getting the mail-luckily she's okay), there was a fresh layer of powdery snow on the ground. I was wearing these horrible snow boots that have absolutely no ankle support. Lesson learned: Never wear those shoes if I need to walk across pavement... and wear shoes with better ankle support in the winter in UTAH!

Fortunately Jason was able to stay home and help with everything! Claire was sick until about Monday (when Jason had to go back to work & school). Thank goodness she's feeling better now!

Monday I got my cast on, which I thought would be great. But I was having extreme pain and come to find out its because I have a bunion on my foot (born with it). Last night was the first night I slept well since getting my cast on. Thanks to all my family and friends for their help and words of encouragement. They have helped more than you know!

Christmas

--Christmas Eve--

These two boxes saved us. Claire is always on the go, but with these boxes she didn't mind sitting down and opening presents.

How can you say no to this face?

(Left)Sharing a toy with great grandma Doyle (Right) Love this little squatter

We put our tree in an extra bedroom! Which worked out great

--Christmas Morning --
Breakfast- Pannekoeken with strawberries and whipped cream!

Projects + Santa

--Projects--
I had this idea before Claire was born, for a crib skirt + embellishments attached with velcro, so that you could use easily replace the embellishments for a boy. And I just got around to starting and finishing this project, soon after my parents left and we were all feeling healthy! I used cookie cutters as a pattern for the shapes. :) On the right is the dresser we re-stained (in the summer) so it would match the crib.

Happy birthday Mom! I got this ornament idea here.

My grandma made me a similar stocking that I used as a model to make Claire's.

--Santa-

Santa came to visit us! Front door service, it was great!

Jason, Amy, and Amy's fiance, Nate dressed up as Santa Claus and went skiing for free at The Canyons. They have this promotion every year in December. (Jason takes full credit for his Santa outfit :)) You can also see them here... they are the first three faces on the video.

And why blog without more pics of Claire...

Claire is afraid of the vacuum, so I put her on the couch. Well I wasn't thinking, because I put her little horse on the couch too. She climbed over her tub of books and amazing got safely on her horse.
